The Dura Grapper is a Highway-All-Terrain tire that offers outstanding tread life and ride comfort. To increase the life of the tires tread, revolutionary Dura-Belt 3steel Belted Technology was introduced. The belts reinforce and stabilize the tread reducing the ability for uneven wear. The Dura Grapper is available in "E" load range, heavy duty "LT" sizes for today's popular diesel truck market. Two distinct sidewall designs are available for the Dura Grapper. LT metric sizes are offered with a durable 4-rib design; the P-metric sizes have a quiet 5-rib design. The Dura Grabber has a performance rating of Q, R, H, and T. Dura Grapper Dura-Belt sizes come with a 45,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, and a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty for P-metric sizes.
The NT450 is the entry-level ultra-high performance radial tire that offers all-season driving capabilities. A unidirectional tread pattern helps to rapidly evacuate water, making the NT450 an exceptional wet surface tire. To increase stability at top speeds, a double center rib was added to maximize high-speed driving on straight-aways and high-speed braking. Nitto guarantees the NT450 with a warranty of 45,000 miles for selected sizes. The NT450 is great for high speed driving, and even better when it comes to the price.
The newest addition to the Nitto Competition Tire Group is the NT05R. This Compliant Competition Drag Radial is designed for the serious Drag Racing enthusiast. The NT05R comes with a dual-purpose sidewall construction and the all-new specialized racing compound that improves traction during launch and delivery stability. These features improve consistency and controllability of the tire. For the best Drag Racing Tire that will offer quick off-the-line speed, choose the Nitto NT05R.
Way back in April 1921, a group of tire dealers met at the old Automobile Club of America on West 54th Street and founded our association pledged, "To do business on the square." J.R. Benedict of the Hewitt Rubber Company, a tire manufacturer, called the initial meeting. Jerome T. Shaw of Tires magazine assisted in arranging the first meeting. In 1934, the association held its largest meetings and took an outstanding part in problems as they related to the independent tire dealer. It was at this time the name was changed to Greater New York Tire & Battery Association. In June 1937, the association entered into a contract with Charles F. Root under which Mr. Root assumed the general management of the organization.
For many years, no apparent need for a local organization seemed to exist and the only function held was the annual dinner dance. In 1969, Bert Schwarz asked Fred Dresdale, a past president of the National Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association and a member of our local organization, to take the presidency. Under Fred's guidance, along with the help of men like Al Hansel, Dan Chiswick, Harry Jaffess, Steve German, Frank L. Cohen and Herb King, the organization was revitalized. The name was changed again to the Greater New York Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association. In 1989, the Officers and Board of Directors enacted a new set of by-laws to encompass the entire state of New York. Hence, the new name of the organization, the New York Tire Dealers Association.
